2013 Grenache Russian River Valley
This succulent, rich wine is a product of meticulous work in the vineyard where each year Philip Staley thins half the crop, assuring a low yield of 3 1/2 tons per acre. At the winery, he has tailored a special regimen for the Grenache, including a cold soak of whole clusters and whole berries prior to fermentation. This 100% Grenache has broad, inviting aromas suggesting rose petals and black pepper. Red fruit cranberry and strawberry flavors are fresh and forward. Staley's 1997 vintage was the first Grenache to win a gold medal in a major competition in California. Grenache is a versatile wine to be enjoyed in place of a Pinot Noir. Rows in the vineyards

Winemaker Notes:

*Brilliant garnet color.

*A true “Rhone like” nose of rose pedals, raspberries,
a hint of vanilla, white pepper and distinct “Grenache”.

*Flavors that closely mimic the nose, ripe raspberry and
white pepper. A rich, mouth filling wine with soft tannic
structure and a long finish.

*A medium bodied wine yet extremely rich, long, and
complex.
